We
sell a lot of homes in Ramsey. It's one of those "Lake Wobegon" kind of towns
where "the women are strong, the men are handsome, and all the kids
are above average."
Education is important in Ramsey, with more than 97% of its students going on to higher education. It is a town that through Ramsey schools and community-based programs offers its young children and teens a wealth of opportunities to grow and flourish. Ramsey High School and the elementary and middle schools are among the best in the state. The town of Ramsey NJ has three parks and enjoys 153 acres of Green Acres land. A number of county and state parks with hiking, skiing, horseback riding and other activities may be found in the borough's backyard. The Ramsey Civic Association organizes the annual Ramsey Day celebration which includes a parade, magic shows, dog shows, races and fireworks at dusk on the sprawling lawn of Ramsey High School at Island Avenue and Main Street. Almost a town within a town, the Ramsey Golf and Country Club has 558 homes on a beautiful private golf course. Ramsey residents enjoy a lively Main Street comprised of restaurants, retail shops, groceries, coffee shops, and a movie theater; a large municipal pool complex; and a library with an updated computer system. Because of Ramsey's undulating topography, cradled in the foothills of the Ramapo Mountains, many of the town's tree-lined streets are winding. And largely because of its easy access to New York, Ramsey is 99 percent developed, with the bulk of the housing stock at least 30 years old. The Ramsey NJ real estate market offers many options. Architecture is varied in Ramsey. Native cobblestone structures still exist, and homes range from authentic Colonial and Victorian to Ranches, Cape Cods and Contemporary styles. There are about 1,300 condominiums in Ramsey in 10 complexes and buildings. The largest is Cambridge Heights, a gated community of 470 apartments and town houses off East Crescent Avenue, just east of Route 17. As Ramsey is now almost fully developed, careful regulations are in force to maintain its rural ambience. |
